Activity of May 2021

EBSB club of Titus II Teachers College celebrates the rich cultural heritage of Himachal Pradesh through an ‘Expression Series’. We dedicated the month of May to ‘Pahari Paintings’.

Pahari painting is an umbrella term used for Indian painting, done primarily on miniature states, originating from Himalayan hill kingdoms of North India, during the 17th-19th century, notably Basohli, Mankot, Nurpur, Chamba, Kangra, Guler, Mandi, and Garhwal.

Pahari painting grew out of the Mughal painting, though this was patronised mainly by the Rajput kings who ruled many parts of the region and gave birth to a new idiom in Indian painting.
